All normal couples fight.
And I promise that we are very “normal” in that regards.
Mandy and I have fought about dirty laundry, putting our kids to bed, who’s cleaning up the dog puke on the carpet and where we’re eating for dinner.
Any of those sound familiar?
Dragging it Out
Back in the day we would let arguments linger for days.
Reflecting back now it was absolutely silly, but we still did it.
Now we do a much better job of recognizing when we’ve screwed up and saying “I’m sorry” much sooner.
And we also make sure not to include a “but” after the apology. You know. Something I like, “I’m sorry sweetie, but……..”.
Yeah, that doesn’t work so don’t do it. 😉
Prayer Helps
We’re definitely not perfect and we still definitely fight (ohhhhh…..the good times!) but recognizing that Jesus has shown us grace for so many of our sins, it’s much easier to forgive each other.
Ever since we did the 30 day prayer challenge it really helped us both identify areas that we needed improvement in. Â Holding grudges is definitely one of those areas so asking Jesus to help us in that has worked wonders.
Ephesians 4:32
32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
