“I’m fat.”
This is something that my wife is tired of hearing me say all the time.
I wish I was joking but the reality is that I’ve been unhappy with my physique for awhile.
The fact is that while I’m a Crossfitter, I surely don’t eat like one.
Sure, I’ll eat Paleo for a few meals a day, but the second you put fried chicken or donuts in front of me, I go to town.

Fed Up
This past summer was amazing! We went on a two week RV adventure, spent some time in San Diego, and also visited Palm Beach.
Unfortunately, when I travel I like to eat. Like, a lot.
While the food was amazing, the collection of fat that was now suffocating my gut was not.
That’s it. It was time to roll up on my sleeves and get serious.
Paleo Round 2
Last year I tried eating Paleo and was surprised how much I liked it. I was sure cutting out bread, pasta, rice and potatoes that I would be low in energy especially trying to do Crossfit.
Surprisingly, I wasn’t. At all.
I lost a bunch of weight but then eventually fell back into my same old habits and put the wait back on.
This time I wanted it to be different.
First step was getting my wife on board. While she definitely doesn’t need to eat Paleo as much as I do (’cause she’s smoking!), she was willing to eat Paleo for dinner.
Without having the temptation to load up pasta or mac and cheese, I wouldn’t consume bad calories.
The second step was just doing it and being hardcore about it. I began doing the grocery shopping for the family and made sure that I only bought good foods. No more ice cream or potato chips.
I bought chicken, hamburger, and a TON of veggies. Another great addition was a NutriBullet. This amazing thing allows me to whip up a healthy smoothie of almond milk, coconut oil, spinach, protein powder, and berries in literally two minutes. #legit
The Results
When I decided to start the Paleo Challenge I was weighing between 211-213lbs. After 2 months, I was able to drop down to around 204lbs.

Since the picture on the right was taken, I’ve been able to drop 3 more pounds and a few steps closer to getting the six pack I had when I was deployed in Iraq.
Is Paleo Right for You?
Only you can answer that. Paleo works for me because I love meat and I love veggies. I can eat that all day long.
Plus, you can eat bacon if you do Paleo. Any diet that allows you to eat bacon is alright in my book! 🙂
