Spousal arguments can erupt in an instant. When it starts about something as little like dirty laundry can lead into a host of other issues. Jeff and Mandy share a recent example how this almost happened to them but by staying patient they were able to discover what the real issue was and strive to make it better.
Hands up if bath time with your little ones has led to a massive argument between you and your spouse? We’ve been there too.
Just a few days ago in the midst of the Rose family nighttime routine of getting the kids in and out of the bath, a bottle for Nella and everyone in bed we had a moment. You know, one of those moments. Looking back it sounds so silly when we replay what we actually said to each other that launched the argument…
“Are you going to put her to bed too?”
“Yep.”
“Do you have the bottle ready?”
In the middle of parenting and working towards getting everyone put down for bed we can really bring out our best sarcastic comments and words that come with a tone of voice that’s really not good.
A lot of the frustration that rooted this specific argument, sarcastic comments and hard tones looking back comes from the idea that we had different ideas of who would be taking care of who after a few days away of being out of town.
Post kids in bed, we were stuck in that place of “should I say something?” or do we just ignore this and act like nothing ever really happened…
Reality is, we had to face it. We’ve learned the more and more you just ignore the little stuff it builds to something so much bigger and deeper.
Tune in to hear how we were able to hash out some differences and overcome what seemed like such a simple, and in a lot of ways, silly argument into something good.
