If your like us, you probably have no idea what the Enneagram is. Before we went to a marriage retreat we were oblivious to what it is. Now we see it as a valuable tool that can have a dramatic impact on any marriage.
On this podcast we get the pleasure of interviewing Ian Cron, who wrote the book “The Road Back to You” which gives an amazing dive into the Enneagram. Tune in to find out how it has impacted us and why we believe it can impact you and your marriage.
Ian is a former pastor, current author and trained psychotherapist as well as a musician living in Nashville. After discovering how greatly the Enneagram impacted his own life and his family, he’s now sharing it with the world through his latest book, The Road Back to You.
The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system which teaches there are nine core or basic personality styles that we all gravitate towards in life or adapt at a young age. Each type of these nine personalities have different ways they cope, see the world and act.
By identifying our individual Enneagram we are able to see the underlying motivation for why we act certain ways or do certain things. This is no magic numbering system or self-help diagnostic but rather a useful tool to better understand ourselves and each other.
You can easily take your own assessment to discover your Enneagram which we’d highly recommend before you tune in to today’s episode.
Each of these numbers are what’s best about you and then what’s worst about you too. Here’s a quick recap on the nine personality types:
Type 1 – Perfectionist
Type 2 – Helper
Type 3 – Achiever
Type 4 – Romantic
Type 5 – Investigator
Type 6 – Loyalist
Type 7 – Enthusiast
Type 8 – Challenger
Type 9 – Peacemaker
Tune in to hear more about each of the nine types and what numbers we fall into and how we’re learning to use this system to better understand ourselves.
