I like to think that I’m a decent father and husband.
I’m good at Crossfit and really good at throwing down some In-N-Out Burgers (is it lunch yet?).
If there’s one thing that I’ve struggled with, it is being a spiritual leader in my household.
Especially when it comes to praying over my family.
My father was a strong Christian but the only time we prayed as a family was over Sunday dinner after church.
I can’t think of a time where we actually prayed together just him and I.
Since I’ve never experienced that as a child, it’s been an ongoing struggle to pray over my kids. I’m thankful that Jesus has been working in me to get much more comfortable with that.
I can’t tell you how good it feels when we do pray for each other.
But you know what’s still awkward? Praying with my wife.
I can pray for her, but being able to pray when it’s just the two of us is even more awkward than praying over my kids.
I don’t know why it’s so awkward. I just know that it is.
Even still, I knew that if we were to grow spiritually as a couple, this was something that I had to get over immediately.
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Mathew 18:19
To get over the awkwardness I decided to address it head on and told Mandy that we should do a Prayer Challenge. How’s that for jumping right in?
We were both at a state in our marriage where we knew it would be beneficial.
In this podcast you’ll find out more about how the 30 Day Prayer Challenge went. You’ll be surprised to learn how the first two days started off. Hint: not even close to what I expected.
