While on a 3 hour car drive, we decided to answer 3 deep and powerful questions. These questions are great for any couple. Enjoy!
Oh hey! The Marriage More podcast has hit the road! We’re bringing you our first episode via highway while traveling to Nashville.
What’s in Nashville besides the famous Pancake Pantry where Mandy ordered, yep, french toast? Jeff’s part of a mastermind group with Michael Hyatt and it was a quarterly meet-up where the spouses came along too.
For this meet up, we knew a few questions would be talked through, so we decided to try and share some of our answers with you on this episode during our drive in.
Questions we’re tackling in this episode:
- What has been your biggest most recent win personally and professionally?
- What are your top three goals for this second quarter?
- Where are you struggling and could use some help?
Here come our answers!
Q1 – Jeff: Professionally, my business has had the highest revenue month that it’s ever had in the past 6 or 7 years. And Personally, we took two vacations – one being just us in Cabo and the second spring break in Florida with our boys.
Q2 – Jeff: First goal is to complete the Battle Frog race… Secondly, behind the scenes I’ve been working on an online course to show financial advisors how to build their financial practices through online marketing… lastly, I’m not sure there is a “set in stone” goal but I do have a few ideas like creating another blog movement or a video series. Who knows what that third goal will be, stay tuned!
Q3 – Jeff: Much like Mandy, It’s hard to feel defeated and not know really what to do to try and address our son’s behavior. And secondly, as I mentioned, I’m creating this course for online marketing, and with that, sometimes while I put so much time and effort into these ideas, but is what I’m doing really creating a bigger impact? Is it really for me to be put in a bigger light? Is it for God? Is it something that is “enough”?
Q1 – Mandy: Professionally, it feels like a win that I’ve been able to create an online vision for what it should be and even more, that we are taking action to get a weekly podcast up and to develop the Marriage More community further.
Secondly, we were approached by a publishing company to write a book together. But that’s all the details we can share right now… more to come in the coming months on that!
Personally, it may seem obvious, but the adoption all happening is a big win! Even if the timing wasn’t in our hands, after all the paperwork and work to get to this stage, finally we have a referral and a daughter.
Other than that, we’ve been able to get some outside counseling and help to work with our youngest son’s behavior. It feels super nice to have a plan of action to move forward and how to help raise this little guy!
Q2 – Mandy: A personal goal for this quarter would be to get our house completely organized how I want it! (Can I get an amen?) Another goal that I have is to start a community like a Facebook group for Marriage More and for other couples… And a third goal, may seem silly to say, but to just read the bible more. Simple as that!
Q3 – Mandy: I am struggling with parenting… parenting when nothing seems to impact or work with your kid. After time it feels like you’re a total failure when nothing works. Plus, it’s hard to say NO to all the opportunities that are coming our way, but it’s a season of being a mother, not a season of saying yes to some opportunities that seem really awesome.
Now that we’ve shared our answers to these three questions, it’s your turn! Grab your spouse and whether it’s in the car, over dinner or on the couch tonight, get to spending a little time together chatting through winning, goals and struggles you’re each facing.

Hi Jeff and Mandy –
I am really enjoying your podcast! It is refreshing to hear each of your perspectives on different issues and topics and aspects of marriage. In regard to Mandy’s hope to create an online community centered around marriage, I wondered if you have ever considered creating an interactive blog similar to askamanager.com. That website is run by a woman named Allison and is more about management but people submit scenarios and questions to her and she posts them with her advice and then allows other people to comment and give additional thoughts and perspectives. I think that would be an awesome forum to use for what Mandy is wanting to do and would be a great way to create a community and allow people to be helped with their marriage! It would be easy to do from home!
Thank you for sharing your struggles with Sloan.
